Chinese Delegation Proposes Trade Expansion Initiatives During TDAP Visit

A high-profile Chinese business delegation visited the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Headquarters in Karachi on China’s National Day. The visit aimed to discuss ways to enhance trade relations between Pakistan and China, including developing a large wholesale market in Karachi, improving logistics infrastructure, and establishing better customs connectivity.

TDAP officials, led by Director General Aasim Tiwana, warmly received the delegation. Among the delegation were William X. Wan, CEO of Pak Belt & Road Trading International Limited, Bilal Janjua, Chairman of China (Pvt) Limited, and Muhammad Irahin, General Manager of Pak Belt & Road Trading International.

During the meeting, both sides discussed trade facilitation efforts, with the Chinese delegation highlighting challenges related to limited access to social media in China, which restricts awareness of Pakistani products. They proposed organizing exhibitions in China with TDAP’s assistance and offered policy input for the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC).

The two parties emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral trade, currently valued at $14 billion, and agreed to work together on proposals to strengthen economic ties.
